Good Faith Estimate. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a written estimate of expected charges for non-emergency healthcare. Ask any time — I'll send one within one business day.

Out-of-network & superbills

If I'm not in-network with your plan...

  1. Pay your session fee up front

    Card on file via SimplePractice. You're charged after each session.

  2. I issue a monthly superbill

    A detailed receipt formatted for insurance submission, sent automatically via your client portal.

  3. You submit to your insurance

    Most plans with OON mental-health benefits reimburse 40–80% after your deductible.

  4. Reimbursement goes to you

    Your insurance pays you directly. I never wait on a check on your behalf.

Not sure if your plan reimburses? Ask insurance: "What are my out-of-network mental health benefits, and what's my OON deductible?"

Late-cancellation policy

24-hour notice, please.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee. Insurance does not cover late-cancel fees. Life happens — reach out if something serious comes up.

Frequently asked

Why use Headway instead of just billing my insurance?
Headway handles credentialing and billing across plans so I can be in-network with more carriers than a solo practice usually can. You get the same care, lower copays, and one clean monthly statement.
Will my session be confidential?
Yes — full HIPAA protection on SimplePractice and Headway. Insurance receives only the diagnosis code and dates of service required for billing.
Can my employer's EAP pay for sessions?
Some EAPs reimburse out-of-network sessions; some require referral to their network. I can help you figure out which applies during the consult.
What if I lose coverage mid-treatment?
We'll discuss it. Options include sliding-scale private pay, reducing session frequency, or pausing — whichever lets you keep the work going.
