Is EMDR or ART for me?

Adults often come to me for...

A single traumatic event — accident, loss, assault
Recurring memories that hijack the day
Anxiety that talk therapy hasn't moved
Performance blocks, phobias, fear of flying
Grief that feels physically stuck
Childhood experiences still showing up at 40
Postpartum experiences that keep replaying
Burnout from high-stakes work or caregiving

Two approaches, one goal

EMDR vs ART — what's the difference?

Approach 01

EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

A well-studied protocol that uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound) to help the brain reprocess stuck memories so they stop firing on cue.

Phase protocol
6–20
Typical sessions
  • Strong evidence base for PTSD
  • Effective for complex trauma over more sessions
  • Slower, deeper pace

Approach 02

ART — Accelerated Resolution Therapy

An evolution of EMDR that adds image rescripting — you "replace" the memory with a new ending. Often produces resolution in 1–5 sessions.

Typical sessions
90 min
Session length
  • Very fast for single-event trauma
  • No homework between sessions
  • I'm a Master Practitioner — among <200 in the U.S.

How a session looks

What to expect, step by step.

  1. Free 15-minute consult

A short video call to talk through what's bringing you in. I'll explain how EMDR or ART would apply.

  2. Intake & history (1–2 sessions)

We map what's been hard, what you've already tried, and the resources you already have.

  3. Preparation & safety

Before processing, we build calming skills you can use any time — in or out of session.

  4. Processing

This is the active phase. Sessions are 50–90 minutes depending on protocol. Most people leave feeling more spacious than when they walked in.

  5. Integration & closure

We make sure the work sticks — and that you know how to keep working with what we've moved.
